The Caitlin Clarke Page

Five years have passed since Ms. Clarke has left us. I have written an entry about her passing on my own blog. I would like to add something to that.

I have read the Law & Order twentieth-year tribute issue of TV Guide. Law & Order was Ms. Clarke's favorite TV show, and she played a defense lawyer (eventually named Linda Walsh) in three episodes in the late 1990's. I would like to think that, if she were alive and fit, Ms. Clarke would have played a more substantial role — say, a prosecuting attorney or even a judge. I say this because that issue did not mention Ms. Clarke's name even once!

In this world talent, training, and a long career more often do not bring recognition. Yet they can engender a love of one's craft that not only does not die, but is willing to pass itself on to others.

Such was actress Caitlin Clarke.

Working mostly on the stage, Katie has received acclaim from fellow actors, from students and teaching colleagues, and from theatre critics for performances even in the worst plays. Yet she is undeservingly obscure. This is why I have dedicated this memorial Web site to her.
