Autumn Potpourri Once More

A couple of weeks ago the squirrel feeder I built for Madre came apart. It turns out the platform piece, the part that holds the corn cob and where the squirrel sits on to munch on the cob, was made from three pieces of wood, glued and pressed together. The piece was not meant for outdoor use. The elements worked the piece apart. I did not realize this at the time because the piece looked whole when I bought it.

I have reassembled my squirrel feeder with wood screws I bought and braces Madre bought. I glued and fastened together the three pieces of wood that make up the platform. It is usable now.

The tree in my backyard has expended most of its yellow leaves. I have expended a lot of hard work in the afternoon s this past weekend. Now that the town has gotten out the leaf vacuum, I have raked the leaves to the street. I bought another rake, a wide plastic rake to replace the one that is kind of busted. I and my sister the editor also did Madre's yard after Sunday dinner.

I have bought and am reading the Steve Jobs book. So far I have gotten the impression that, at least on the surface, the guy was a whacko who never quite recovered from the ethos of the 1960's. In fact, you could say that it was that ethos that killed him. But he did learn from his time with NeXT (a failure commercially, but which won when merged with a flailing Apple) and with Pixar (such a success that it saved Disney, even despite Disney itself).
