Caitlin Clarke Day

I am on vacation this week.

day trip

I took a day trip to Purdue yesterday afternoon. This page gives the details. There are no pictures on this trip, because it was a glum, grey day. I likely should have done so, though, after finding the two new sculptures in the plaza in front of the Yao building.

birthdays

Today is the birthday of my favorite actress, Caitlin Clarke. I had a steak dinner in her honor, as I have always had since I first started this tradition after winning a Pondersoa Steak House coupon in an XMas raffle more than twenty years ago

At this point, I should warn visitors that the Caitlin Clarke Page will change appearance sometime this week. The new site is almost finished. Once it is tested, it goes online. This is your only warning.

Today was also the ninetieth anniversary of the Fairmount Public Library, and the library held a modest open house this evening. There was cake, finger food, punch, folders of newspaper cuttings from the library's history, and a raffle. I was there for about an hour.

print server

My unit got a new print server. Well, it got a new server. The print server part is a virtual machine running Windows Server 2008. I have found that Win2008 functions like a glorified Windows 7, including how it handles printers. I can set up queues for a given printer, but the queues are not visible unless you right-click on the printer. To make things worse, I cannot get the pause to work on the queues. Print jobs pass straight to the printer, rather than being held to be passed from input to output queue by our print job management software. I will have to straighten all this out when I get back from my vacation.
