Mid-June Edition 2011

The past week was broiling hot, but this week has been very nice.

Madre's gas-powered mower worked, as tested by my sister the editor. So I tried it on my lawn, and it did such a good job that I could wait a week before mowing it again. Nonetheless, I will not be forsaking my push-reels. I still believe that gasoline is not something to waste on lawns.

New hard disk images have been loaded on the iMacs at work. I am just about done with them. The Mac Pros are next. I hope to have them all finished by my next vacation on the last week in June.

I am working to download the two expansions to Bioshock 2, in both of which the player is a Protector, or Big Daddy. One is a series of eighteen trials where you protect a Little Sister from bands of enemies using limited weapons, plasmids and tonics. The other is the conclusion of the Bioshock series (at least in the city of Rapture), where you must fight your way to Rapture's central computer, whose processing power will restore you (and every other survivor of the city) to normal.

There is a big crack in the plaster of the wall in the upper room. I had not noticed it before because there was a bookcase in the way. During my upcoming vacation I will have to seal the crack.

The promise of bigger sewage bills awaits the town of Fairmount, thanks to a long-time mandate from the State to separate our sewer from the stormwater drain. In Fairmount sewage and stormwater flow in the same pipes. Everytime it rains, sewage overflows into Back Creek. The State wants this stopped, but the most optimal solution to this (assuming grants from the State, a smooth contract award and problemless constuction) means my sewage bills will be $52-$55/month. (Right now, my sewage bills are $12-$15/month.)
