Hot Weekends of 2012

The Memorial Day weekend was hot, so hot. I had to break out the window air conditioner early so that I have at least one room in the house that is not a sauna. Then the weather became nice and cool … until this past weekend, which was another roaster.

Driving my car during both weekends was hot and sweaty, even with the windows open and the fan on full. The air conditioner in my car had failed. It no longer worked. I had thought that the coolant had all leaked out, so I made an appointment at Victory Honda, where I got the car, to recharge the air conditioner.

Well, I drove my car in. It was found that the coolant is fine; the thermal controller that regulates the air conditioner compressor burned out. Two days later I took the car back to get the controller replaced. I was driven back to Ball State while the car was worked on … or so everyone thought. The thermal controller was supposed to come in from Troy, Ohio, where all of Victory Honda's parts come in. It turns out the controller is coming in from California. It will be at least next Monday before the part comes in. The sales guy on the phone could not apologize profusely enough.

Meanwhile, I am waiting until the end of this week before I call my doctor's to determine whether he will be in. I was supposed to have an appointment last month (or even earlier, after my lab work). Meanwhile I had gotten my blood sugar down to consistently moderate levels. I had put salads in my diet, and stopped patronizing the local bar and grill (their fare makes my blood sugar skyrocket).
