XMas Season Part 3

Sunday afternoon I drove to Fry's and bought Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013. I had Kaspersky 2012 already, and when I got those prompts to update to Kaspersky 2013 from online for free, I did so. In hindsight, that was very foolish. Not only did the installation crash, it wiped out Kaspersky 2012 as well. Repeated attempts to install Kaspersky 2013 kept crashing. And running a recommended virus removal tool does not help.

It turns out that Kaspersky 2013 from a disk crashes like its online copy. Since I have the disk anyway, I decided to wipe all remains of Kaspersky 2012 with Registry Mechanic. That did not work, either, because it was too dependent on Kaspersky's Uninstaller, which also crashes.

In the end I had to use Google to search uninstall kaspersky 2012 without uninstaller. What I got was the Kaspersky Lab Products Remover. That did work, and I was able to install Kaspersky 2013 without a hitch.

That evening the electricity kept going off and on. At one point, the power was down for a half-hour. It only happened in a part of Fairmount … the part with my house in it. That is bad for me, because my house is all-electric. I may have to plan to install a generator next to my house for such an emergency.
