XMas Season Part 4

XMas has come and gone.

I got some neat gifts. I got some non-white dress shirts, pants and a sweater vest I am wearing right now. I got a new deep fryer. I got a gift card to Amazon.com, which I have already spent. (Fifty dollars goes fast on books.) And I got a new small shop-vac for the upper room, to go with the shop-vac I have for downstairs.

I am not entirely sure whether my sisters appreciate my gift of bathing salts from the Vermont Country Store. However, it is the only gift I can think of that was appropriate for them. And there was the usual complains about my using too much tape to seal the gift wrap on my gifts to them.

It was a somewhat melancholy XMas due to the passing of Sugarpuss. The other cat, Calico, was having a ball as she was the center of attention … at least until my niece arrived.

My niece (elder daughter of my sister the ex-teacher/doctoral student) and her significant other stopped by with their dog Whisper. Whisper is a shy and nervous dog, and although it would not let me pet it, it did sniff my hand rather than growl at me or run away.

We had pot roast and mashed spud for lunch. It was all good, and I slept off the meal in the afternoon.

Work resumes tomorrow. However, tomorrow promises between five and seven inches (13-17 cm) of snow in my area. I may wind up stuck at home, because I can probably get to work in the morning, I may not be able to get home in the late afternoon from all that snow. I have parked my car in the driveway, where I can pull out immediately onto the street just in case the weather turns out not so bad.
