Busy Work and a Pest Identified

It was a busier than usual evening after work.

I scrubbed out the toaster-oven of years of gunk with spray lye. It was messy, but will extend the life of the toaster-oven a few more years.

I transferred my Raspberry Pi to a new case — an oh so blue case. I also got a VESA harness for the case. It does not fit my television set. It fits my Viewsonic monitor (which I removed from my main box), but there is no way the case can screw onto the harness. In the end I recruited Krazy Glue to hold the case to the harness.

I cleaned out the back gutter, where little maple trees were starting to grow.

boxelder bugs: a pest on us all!

I sprayed lemongrass oil around the shed and around the hose and outdoor faucet. I finally discovered what those damn bugs are — boxelder beetles (Boisea trivittata). Are there any boxelder (ash-leaf maple) trees in the area? For maybe the mulch I laid in front of the shed is not cedar, but boxelder. I will throw the mulch away, just in case. I will also print out the document on a color printer at work, then look for any boxelder trees.
