First Day of Fall 2013

It is the first day of fall, and I celebrated by putting away the air conditioners for the winter.

I forgot to display the bumper crop of goldenrod off my deck. It was lovely to behold. But it wilts so quickly, and yesterday I cut it down so I could mow around it.

I also forgot to note that I bought some new furniture early this month. First is an adjustable office chair with removable seat covers, from Sam's Club. It lets me type in comfort. Then there is the new Epson WF-3520 scanner/printer/copier, which has more bells and whistles than my old HP all-in-one, and which so far works impressively. I had to ditch the HP because its rollers wore out.

My sister the editor made another trip to Escanaba to look over the proposed house with a house inspector. He took a lot of photos, and found that the drain pipes have collapsed due to age. Any other problems my sister can fix, but the drain pipe must (and will) be replaced before the house can be sold. My sister will then make another trip on the last Sunday of this month to conclude the sale and get the keys to the house. I have learned that there will be little need to move furniture since the house comes furnished — and I mean with more than kitchen appliances.
