Summer Vacation 2013 Final

My final summer vacation is over.

The two main things I wanted done during this vacation are complete.

I am aware (because Madre told me) that tree surgeons tend to be very busy this time of year. But I have had a whole week — I have planned this vacation thus — for a tree surgeon to come and cut the tree down, so that I may see the work and pay the fellow. Now it is not going to happen, because I had done the work myself.

This week I have set up the Web and database services on my server. It has taken as long as it has because I was spending an inordinate amount of time playing Minecraft. Also, I could not get phpMyAdmin to work on my server due to its damnable permissions. Instead, I had to download and use Chive, which proved to be easier to use and to work well with MariaDB.

I also bought a Bluray player for my main box. Ostensibly it was for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica movie that came to me on Bluray. In fact, the player allowed me to do backups on single optical disks for the first time in years.
