XMas 2013 Part Two

gifts

I got XMas gifts for Madre, my sister the ex-teacher and my niece Megan bought and wrapped. (I got an XMas gift for my sister the editor, but only now just decided how to prepare it.) Madre has the decorations on her tree put up; she even found and put on the tree the comet Kehuteck that I created way back in my early teens.

photoshoot

I donated some money to the local fire department, and they gave me a free photoshoot. (The photos themselves, I assume, I must pay for.) The first time I got the call for the photoshoot, the guy's voice on my answering machine was so gravelly that I could not understand him. And I could not get any info from the town hall.

So, the fire department tried again for this past weekend.

The weather is miserable, but I did make it to the photoshoot. After two telephone calls in as many days from whoever is speaking for the local fire department (in his almost inteligible voice), I decided to thrown on a suit and tie, drive down to the town hall, and get my picture taken … several times, both standing and siting. It will be interesting to see how the pictures turn out.

regression

I find this hard to believe, but I guess the folks at Penny Arcade have hit some sort of a wall. Their Web site will shrink at the end of the year. Their Webmaster has already left (I read his explanation why). Ben Kechura, ex-Ars Technica game reporter, will shortly become ex-Penny Arcade Report game reporter when said Penny Arcade Report shuts down.

Penny Arcade Television will go away, too.

I would wish that the last item is not true.

This will put Penny Arcade back where it was a decade ago. I can only assume that they were losing focus, doing everything else except gaming, and now they decided it was time to go back to gaming.
