Yard Work Begins 2013

This year's yard work began this past Sunday with the mowing of my own lawn and Madre's, too. It had to be done before the rains that supposed to last all this week. I found that my initial assessment of my lawn was based on the miserable grass in my back yard, not the fat grass in the front, so it was a good thing to have mowed at all.

The tree in the front yard is well and truly dead. I will have to find a tree remover to come and get rid of the tree during my upcoming vacation.

The next thing I needed to do is to spread weed-and-feed on the lawn, preferable in the evening so that the dew (and not the rain!) can soak the stuff into the ground and the grass. Thursday evening looks like a good time.

Yesterday evening I saw the sunset and realized that I had time to spread fertilizer/weedkiller (weed-and-feed) on my lawn. It took me all of fifteen minutes to spread the stuff, and it was still light when I was done. That is a good thing, because in the evening there are few people and animals out, and I do not want to get that stuff on them.

As predicted, the rains came and come and will come. The yard will at least be well-watered (i.e., become a moat).
