Access Panel

I bought a 6″ × 9″ plastic access panel for my bathtub, so that I can reach the valves for turning off the hot and cold water. This inability to do so is the main reason for my never using the bathtub. It took three days: One day for buying the panel; one day for marking out where to cut out the access; and one day to do the actual cutting and to install the panel itself.

The actual cutting was one sweaty job involving an electric jigsaw I borrowed from Madre. There was also a stud in the way. But otherwise I chose the right spot, for the valves are within easy reach.

This weekend, after the construction adhesive has set, I will turn the valves off and disassemble the faucet valves to see whether the washers are worn and need replaced.
