Memorial Day 2014
For a holiday Memorial Day has proven to be very busy.
- I mowed the lawn, as had everyone else. There is something about a three-day weekend that brings out lawn mowers on the last day of the weekend.
- I had lunch with Madre and my sister the ex-teacher. Madre has cooked Sunday dinner for the first time since she came out of rehab.
- I brought Callie back home to Madre's. I had planned to bring her home after Madre got her brace off. But a not-so-subtle hint compelled me to bring Callie back with her toys, food dishes and bed.
- I swept the carpet in my living room and bedroom, swept the cushioned furniture.
- My car was caked with pollen from the maple tree, so I had to wash that off.
I watched the Indy 500 Sunday evening. The oddest thing is that the announcers kept calling the race 'strange' for never having a yellow flag (ordering slowdown during a crash) for more than halfway through the race. Then: crash, crash, crash, crash! Way to jinx it, guys!
