Spring Vacation 2014 Midpoint

It seems a waste to have to buy another of the same made and model of lawn mower. But the old mower no longer cuts, no matter how I adjust the blades. And yet, it seems even more of an annoyance when I open the box to find the mower was used. C'mon, Lowes, can't you at least go over the blades with a wire brush and some WD-40? The old mower is in pieces; I may use it for spare parts.

And, that new mower does cut. So I am satisfied. I am sure the mower will last me for at least a couple of years. And, I would add that the whole point of having a push-reel mower is that it does not consume gasoline, does not require motor oil, and is not difficult to start up. You just push it.

Today has been a slow day. Most of it was spent working on the minutes for the Friends meeting for April. Some of it were chores, including removing the torn screens from off the south windows of the library annex, including feeding the cats of my sister the ex-teacher.

I have read that Microsoft will end all support for all but the very latest versions of Windows. I do not know whether this is true, or whether this is a misinterpretation of one of Microsoft's recent knowledge bulletins. It had better be the latter, because trying to force the masses to switch to Windows 8.1.φ is more likely to make them switch to Mac OS X or some Linux distro. Frankly Windows 7 with TextPad, Kaspersky and Opera products works fine with me. I just realized something: All the more important software on my system comes from Europe (TextPad ← England, Kaspersky ← Eastern Europe, Opera ← Norway). American software has really sunk deep in the pit as far as I am concerned.
