Business Deals

This is what SimCity 4 calls the shady offers handed you by the financial advisor when you overspend on your city and its finances approach rock bottom. The income is very attractive: between §3000 and §5400 per year. However, the side-effects of these anti-rewards can be nasty, giving your mayoral rating a dope slap. If you must sign on to these deals, put them at the very edges of your city, away from residential areas.

Army Base

Soldiers makes businesses happy with their paychecks and the local proles very happy with jobs both on base and in industry in general. But lots of bored boys on R&R raises the crime rate all over the city.

Casino

Tourists flock to have their money milked from them while they are entertained by glorified circus acts and comedians past their prime. Businesses love a casino. Nobody else does: It raises crime and sucks power like crazy.

Federal Prison

The nastiest crooks are imprisoned here. The prison hires proles for guards, cooks and janitors. Otherwise it raises crime, although I don't know why. (How can the criminals commit crimes if they are already in prison?)

Missile Range

There's nothing like the rockets' red glare to spook the sims — especially if one of them develops a glitch and falls to the ground in their neighborhood. The good news: As a slab of concrete on the surface, the base does not need water or fire protection.

Toxic Waste Dump

This is truly evil: It puts out pollution of all kinds as well as radioactivity. It simply cannot be put anywhere near any zoned area unless you want your sims to flee in droves. This is the last resort of all deals, and unless you plan on premature retirement must be put as far away as possible.
