Other Means of Travel

Road and rail aren't the only means to move about. The Rush Hour pack provides other ways to get around the city.

Water

If you created a wide river or an island, you can span it with a pricey bridge. Or, if you are cheap, you can set up a passenger ferry at opposing points on the water. Sims can then leisurely cross the water from shore to shore. For more moolah, you can get a ferry that carries both sims and their cars.

Also available are parking garages, so that sims can park their cars before using the bus, train or ferry.

Air

Air travel is within your reach if:

• you put your city in one of those medium or large blocks of a region;
• your city has reached 10,000 sims;
• you feel the need to boost your city's business;
• you have a 6 × 18 lot;
• you have a whole lot of simoleons left over.

Yes, it's a lot of ifs, but you get them all, consider a small airport (called a landing strip in SimCity 4).

Make sure the airport is well connected to commercial areas; and placed far from where sims live, for airports put out lots of noise and air pollution.
