In keeping with Ryan's desire to fill his city with only the best people and to make sure they stay that way, Rapture is filled with books. Well, it is filled with Ryan's kind of books, of which the Bible (which he calls the Book of Lies) is not one. That had to be smuggled into the city.
But you will find other books around, all on genetics, on shelves, in bookcases, on tables and on floors. Of course, nobody reads them anymore. They form part of the game's background, so you cannot read them, either. But their titles are visible on some of them. The titles, in alphabetical order, are:
In the Point Prometheus level, the library and the vestible to the museum are filled with these books. Fortunately for you, the shelves also have more useful materials (ammo). If you have enough ammo, you will find that on the shelves reachable only by telekinesis, you will snag only books.
